What’s the longest you’ve worked for an employer? For John Rye, Branch of Manager Elasto Proxy’s Newmarket, Ontario location, the answer is “over a quarter-century”. Last month, Elasto Proxy marked John’s 25th work anniversary with a celebration at our Boisbriand, Quebec headquarters. John and the entire Newmarket team traveled here to join us, as did our colleagues from Elasto Proxy USA in Simpsonville, South Carolina and Elasto Proxy Europe in St-Niklaas, Belgium.
Building a Branch
John joined our Toronto-area branch in November 1999, just two years after it opened. He began his Elasto Proxy career as an Inside Sales Representative and, in that role, was responsible for account management and territory growth. John’s professional success led to his promotion to Branch Manager in June 2002, a role he’s held ever since.
To mark John’s 25th work anniversary, Elasto Proxy’s Montreal-area headquarters hosted a Friday night dinner. John and other long-time employees received plaques in recognition of their service, and John also shared some reflections about the changes he’s seen over the years. “Technology now drives nearly every aspect of our operations, from managing customer relationships to streamlining production processes, making the past 25 years feel like a massive leap forward,” he said.
Celebrating in Style
A graduate of Toronto’s Centennial College, John earned a degree in Sales & Marketing in 1999. He also holds a certificate in Professional Selling from the Canadian Professional Sales Association (issued April 2017) and a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt from McGill University (issued October 2022). In his role as Branch Manager, John also manages a Newmarket team that delivers tremendous value to customers in industries such as transportation and heavy equipment.
As part of our recent anniversary celebration, Elasto Proxy kicked-off the holiday season in style. On the Saturday following our 60-person anniversary dinner, we hosted our largest-ever Family Day event for 165 people here in Boisbriand. It’s the first time that all four of our branches have been together for Family Day, and we enjoyed the opportunity to connect with each other at a company that turned 35 in September and has many more great years to come!
