Understanding the Elasto Proxy Numbering System

Elasto Proxy uses a standard numbering system to identify the products you can buy from our catalog. Please use this numbering system when ordering, and to indicate a seal’s specifications. As the rest of this page explains, these numbers represent specifications such as diameter, material, and hardness. Elasto Proxy assigns products to these categories.

Since different kinds of products have different specifications, our numbering system varies by category. Please refer to the examples below for details. In each example, note that the links jump to pages that let you see all of your choices for that specification (e.g., diameter, material, hardness).

Cord Stock

Cord stock is identified by category code, diameter, material, and hardness. There are four different types of cord stock. Each has its own category code. Choose from O-ring cord (ORC), quad O-ring cord (ORCQ), sponge O-ring cord (ORCSP), and square O-ring cord (ORCSQ).

Example: ORC-118-S60

ORCCategory Code
118Diameter
SMaterial
160Hardness

Floor Matting

Floor matting is identified by category code, thickness, direct width, custom indicator code (optional), and material. There is only one category code (FM) for floor mats. When used, there is only one custom indicator code (Z). Floor matting is available in many different thicknesses, direct widths, and materials.

Example: FM-375-43-ZM

FMCategory Code
375Thickness
43Direct Width
ZSpecial Code
MMaterial

Heater Hose

Heater hose is identified by category code, diameter, and material. Although there is just one category code (HH), heater hose is available in a variety of diameters and materials.

Example: HH-375-E

HHCategory Code
375Diameter
EMaterial

Latches

Latches are identified by category code, three-digit part number code, material, and hardness. There is only one category code (RHT) for latches, but products are available in different materials and hardnesses.

Example: RHT-002-SS

RHTCategory Code
002Part #
SMaterial
SHardness

Molded Bumpers

Molded bumpers are identified by category code, three-digit part number code, material, and hardness. There is just one category code (MB) for molded bumpers, but products come in different materials and hardnesses.

Example: MB-002-C80

MBCategory Code
002Part #
CMaterial
80Hardness

Profiles

Sponge and solid profiles are identified by category, shape, part number, material, hardness, and adhesive. There are separate category codes for sponge (EC) and solid (ES). Note also that there is a relationship between profile shape and hardness.

This example is for a sponge (EC) profile.

Example: EC04-030-EMT*

EC-ESCategory Code
04Shape
030Part #
EMaterial
MHardness
T*Adhesive

This example is for a solid (ES) profile.

Example: ES12-001-S50W

EC-ESCategory Code
12Shape
001Part #
SMaterial
50Hardness
WColor

Sheet Stock

Sheet stock is identified by category code, thickness, direct width, material, hardness, and adhesive. There is just one category code (SH) for sheet stock, but many choices for the other specifications. Thickness is measured in fractions of inches while direct width is a whole-inch measurement.

Example: SH-187-42-NMT

SHCategory Code
187Thickness
42Direct Width
NMaterial
MHardness
TAdhesive

Tubing

Tubing is identified by category code, inside diameter, outside diameter, material, and hardness. There is just one category code (ES30) but many choices for the other specifications.

Example: ES30-5866-S60

ES30Category Code
58Inside Diameter
66Outside Diameter
SMaterial
60Hardness

Weather Stripping

Weather stripping is identified by category code, thickness, width, material, hardness, and adhesive. There is only one category code (ST), but many choices for the other specifications.

Example: ST-125-21-NMT

STCategory Code
125Thickness
21Width
NMaterial
MHardness
TAdhesive

Custom Indicator Code

Products that have custom indicator codes (Z) contain miscellaneous compounds that impart different characteristics than the rubber materials used in standard products. Custom indicator codes are always designated by the letter “Z”. Floor matting, sheet stock, and weather stripping are the categories that contain the most products with Z codes. However, any product can have a custom indicator code if it’s made from a non-standard compound and has miscellaneous characteristics.

Three-Digit Part Number Code

Three-digit part number codes are assigned at random and do not represent physical attributes. Latches, molded bumpers, and sponge and solid profiles contain these three-digit part number codes. Products in other categories do not.
