EMI gaskets for data centers combine environmental sealing with shielding against electromagnetic interference (EMI), electronic noise or crosstalk that’s caused by power lines, uninterruptible power systems (UPS), or nearby equipment. If server racks and cabinets lack EMI shielding, problems such as hardware malfunctions, system failures, and data corruption may result.
Elasto Proxy makes custom EMI gaskets for data centers. We specialize in low to medium volumes and use water jet cutting to fabricate electrically conductive silicones that are flame retardant, MIL-DTL-83528 QPL certified, or available in low durometers. Elasto Proxy also supplies molded EMI gaskets and can apply a conductive pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) to help speed installation.

Flame Retardant EMI Gaskets for Data Centers
Data centers face a risk of fire because of their high concentration of electrical equipment. In addition to reviewing fire suppression and mitigation plans, data center operators need to harden their facilities against damage. As part of these efforts, facilities managers may require data center construction companies to install fire-resistant gaskets with doors and panels.
Flame retardant EMI gaskets are made of electrically conductive silicones with UL 94V0 flame ratings. They contain nickel-graphite particles and can be used in place of GORE GS2100 and GORE GS5200, EMI gasket materials that W.L. Gore discontinued in 2020. Nickel-graphite silicones cost less than silver-filled elastomers and provide proven levels of EMI shielding.

MIL-DTL-83528 EMI Gaskets for Data Centers
The U.S. military is building data centers to enable faster and more secure communications. Because these facilities house military electronics, they may require EMI gaskets that meet the lettered requirements of MIL-DTL-83528, a U.S. military detail specification that is sometimes written as MIL-G-83528 or M83528.
The MIL-G-83528 EMI gaskets that Elasto Proxy fabricates are made of elastomers that belong to the M83528 Qualified Product List (QPL). The Defense Logistics Agency (DLA), part of the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD), maintains this approved products list. As the table below shows, our M83528 gasket materials provide alternatives or offsets to Parker Chomerics CHO-SEAL® products.

Soft EMI Gaskets for Data Centers
Soft EMI gaskets for data centers provide reliable sealing under low closure force and are available in durometers as low as 30 Shore A. Elasto Proxy offers several nickel-graphite filled silicones, including a flame-retardant offset to GORE GS2100, and a 45-durometer silver-aluminum fluorosilicone that provides enhanced chemical resistance.
