Elasto Proxy supplies hoses and hose connectors for military land systems. We are AS9100D and ISO9001:2015 certified and hold a Canadian Controlled Goods Certificate.
Military land systems need fluid‑handling systems that can withstand heat, shock, vibration, chemical exposure, and extreme duty cycles. Hoses and hose connectors play a critical role because they move coolant, fuel, hydraulic fluid, charge‑air, and exhaust gases through engine bays and thermal‑management systems.
Elasto Proxy supplies defense contractors with hoses and hose connectors that are built to withstand harsh military environments. This guide describes these technologies and covers key engineering specifications. Keep reading to learn more and contact us for a quote or to discuss your application.
Types of Military Hoses and Hose Connectors
Military land systems use various hose geometries and configurations. Elasto Proxy offers the following types of products and can also supply you with engine bay insulation and heat shields, door and hatch seals, and EMI shielding.
Silicone Elbows
Silicone elbows route coolant, charge air, and intake air through engine compartments. They typically have an angle of 45° or 90°, but Elasto Proxy can supply custom bend radii up to 180°.
Military land system applications include:
- Routing coolant around armored structures
- Charge‑air delivery in turbocharged diesel engines
- Air‑handling for auxiliary power units (APUs)
- Thermal‑management loops for radar, infrared sensors, and directed‑energy subsystems
Silicone elbows are available with polyester or aramid reinforcements. With its exceptional heat and flame resistance, aramid is typically used in engine bays.
Straight Silicone Hoses
Straight silicone hoses are used with coolant, heater, and charge‑air circuits. To reduce swell and increase hoop strength, these hoses can include stainless steel restraining rings for charge-air coolers (CAC).
Military land system applications include:
- High‑temperature coolant loops
- Cold‑side and hot‑side CAC plumbing
- Fuel‑cell and hybrid‑electric thermal systems
- Hydraulic return lines in turreted systems
Because Elasto Proxy is both a distributor and a fabricator, we can cut silicone hoses to length at our manufacturing facilities near Montreal, Canada and in Simpsonville, South Carolina (USA).
Reducer Hoses
Reducer hoses support transitions between pipes with different diameters. They’re often used in military retrofits, upgrades, and air-metering assemblies that contain components from different original equipment manufacturers (OEMS).
Military vehicle applications include:
- Integrating new powerpacks into legacy hulls
- Adding auxiliary cooling loops
- Mating NATO‑standard components with OEM‑specific hardware
Elasto Proxy has supported defense contractors for over 35 years and can help you solve these and other challenges.
Hump Hoses
Hump hoses compensate for misalignment and support slight intake adjustments on both the hot and cold sides of the engine. They’re essential for defense platforms that are subjected to shock, vibration, and chassis flex. Aramid-reinforced products provide fatigue resistance at high temperatures. Fluorocarbon liners resist petrochemical combustion residues.
Applications for hump hoses include:
- Turbocharger plumbing
- Air‑intake systems on tracked vehicles
- Flexible joints in mobile generator sets
- Vibration‑isolated cooling loops for sensor suites
Wrapped Hoses
Wrapped hoses contain nylon fabric strips that are applied before curing and produce a distinctive textured surface. Because they support larger diameters and shorter production runs, they’re a good choice for low-volume military programs.
Applications for wrapped hoses include:
- Large‑diameter coolant lines
- Low‑volume prototype vehicles
- Sustainment and repair programs

Engineering Specifications for Military Hose Connectors
When selecting military hose connectors, engineers need to consider the following specifications. Elasto Proxy offers design reviews and uses a methodology called MTAP to help you with material selection based on Media, Temperature, Application, and Pressure.
Bend Radius
Bend radius is the smallest curve a hose can make without kinking, flattening, or suffering internal damage. Most hoses have a 45° or 90° bend radius, but custom angles up to 180° are available. This flexibility is crucial for military vehicles where armor, electronics, and powertrain components create tight routing paths.
Reinforcements and Liners
Military land systems need hoses with aramid reinforcements for high heat zones, wire reinforcements for vacuum-side turbo plumbing, or fluorocarbon liners for fuel vapor or exhaust-gas recirculation (EGR). Metal wire can be added for extreme pressures, and EPDM inserts are used for air-intake systems. Polyester or aramid fabric is used for 4-ply reinforcement.
Pressure Ratings
There are two pressure ratings for military hoses and hose connectors.
- Working pressure is the maximum safe operating pressure for regular use. It’s typically measured in pounds per square inch (PSI).
- Burst pressure is the absolute maximum internal pressure a hose can withstand before it ruptures or fails catastrophically.
For engineers, it’s important to note that the burst pressure is typically four times the working pressure. Elasto Proxy can help you to size reinforcement layers that protect against high-pressure spikes from turbochargers, vacuum conditions during rapid throttle transitions, and pulsation loads in hydraulic and cooling systems.
Color Coding
Most industrial rubber products are black, but hoses and hose connectors also come in other colors. Typically, color is used to indicate a component’s function.
- Red – High heat or chemical exposure
- Blue – Cold side or A/C systems
- Black – Standard products
Industry and Military Standards
Elasto Proxy supplies hose and hose connectors that meet or exceed these standards:
- SAE J20 R1 / R1 H.T. Class A
- SAE J1726
- TMC RP303B Grade I & II
- Mil‑Spec A‑A‑52426
- OEM‑specific defense requirements
Ask Elasto Proxy for Hoses and Hose Connectors
Military programs rarely run at high volumes. Elasto Proxy specializes in low-to-medium volumes and supports custom hose geometries. We also help engineers to select the right hose material, liner, and reinforcement based on the application’s requirements. In addition to military hoses and hose connectors, we can supply you with seals, gaskets, and insulation that simplify your logistics.
Because Elasto Proxy maintains facilities in Canada, the United States, and Europe, we’re well-positioned to support NATO programs with our responsive supply and technical support. We also have a 35-year history of working with North American defense contractors. At a time when defense spending is accelerating, Elasto Proxy is already running at full-speed ahead.
