En d&rsquo;autres mots, c&rsquo;est la partie de la largeur totale du joint qui scelle le joint lorsque le caoutchouc est comprim\u00e9. Un joint peut avoir une largeur nominale de 0,500&Prime; (12,70 mm), mais la largeur d&rsquo;\u00e9tanch\u00e9it\u00e9 efficace est inf\u00e9rieure \u00e0 cela.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p><p>Pourquoi la largeur d&rsquo;\u00e9tanch\u00e9it\u00e9 efficace ne couvre-t-elle pas tout le joint ? C&rsquo;est parce que le caoutchouc ne se d\u00e9forme pas uniform\u00e9ment lorsqu&rsquo;il est comprim\u00e9. \u00c0 mesure que vous vous approchez des bordures ext\u00e9rieures du joint, la pression de contact entre le joint et la bride diminue. Avec certains joints plats, la largeur d&rsquo;\u00e9tanch\u00e9it\u00e9 efficace est de <u>50% \u00e0 70%<\/u><u> de la largeur totale<\/u> .\u00a0\u00a0<\/p><h2><strong>Pourquoi une largeur d&rsquo;\u00e9tanch\u00e9it\u00e9 efficace est-elle importante ?<\/strong>\u00a0<\/h2><p>Pourquoi avez-vous besoin de d\u00e9terminer la largeur d&rsquo;\u00e9tanch\u00e9it\u00e9 efficace ? C&rsquo;est pour pr\u00e9dire la contrainte minimale d&rsquo;\u00e9tanch\u00e9it\u00e9, pr\u00e9venir les fuites sous pression et \u00e9viter la surcompression du joint. Si un joint n&rsquo;atteint pas sa contrainte minimale d&rsquo;\u00e9tanch\u00e9it\u00e9 il fuira, peu importe le type de mat\u00e9riau, la dur\u00e9e de vie et les autres param\u00e8tres.\u00a0<\/p><h3><strong>Pr\u00e9venir les fuites sous pression<\/strong>\u00a0<\/h3><p>Il y a plus d&rsquo;un type de pression \u00e0 consid\u00e9rer quand on con\u00e7oit un joint en caoutchouc fait sur mesure.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p><p><strong>La pression interne<\/strong> est la pression du m\u00e9dium \u00e0 l&rsquo;int\u00e9rieur d&rsquo;un syst\u00e8me scell\u00e9, comme une baignoire \u00e0 porte ou un r\u00e9servoir en acier inoxydable pour la fabrication de bi\u00e8re ou de vin. Vous pouvez la voir comme la force qui pousse vers l&rsquo;ext\u00e9rieur depuis l&rsquo;int\u00e9rieur de la baignoire ou du r\u00e9servoir (pour prendre notre exemple).\u00a0\u00a0<\/p><p>Quel est son lien avec la largeur d&rsquo;\u00e9tanch\u00e9it\u00e9 efficace ?\u00a0\u00a0<\/p><p>Un joint avec une faible largeur d&rsquo;\u00e9tanch\u00e9it\u00e9 efficace a moins de force d&rsquo;\u00e9tanch\u00e9it\u00e9 et un risque accru de fuites. C&rsquo;est parce que la pression interne r\u00e9duit la pression de contact entre le joint et la bride. Dans le pire des cas la pression interne peut provoquer l&rsquo;\u00e9clat d&rsquo;un joint.\u00a0<\/p><h3><strong>\u00c9viter la surcompression<\/strong>\u00a0<\/h3><p>Beaucoup de joints, surtout les joints plats, sont fix\u00e9s avec des boulons. Lors de l&rsquo;assemblage du produit, les installateurs peuvent trop serrer les boulons pour r\u00e9duire le risque de fuite. Cela peut entra\u00eener un r\u00e9glage de compression permanent, une perte de r\u00e9silience ou une extrusion qui force le joint \u00e0 sortir de son emplacement d&rsquo;installation. Trop de serrure n&rsquo;est pas la solution ici, car la compression en caoutchouc suit <u>les courbes de charge non lin\u00e9aires contre la d\u00e9flection<\/u>.<\/p><p>La surcompression r\u00e9duit aussi la largeur d&rsquo;\u00e9tanch\u00e9it\u00e9 efficace.
